Thomas Legind May 2008 Collingswood
artist Thomas Legind is a landscape painter, who works in oils. His lush
landscapes are painted from the many places where he has lived. His art style is
inspired by the works of the old masters, and reflects his fascination with
light and shadow and its effect on color.

George Simmerman, Sr. Painting Wildlife in Oils March 2008 George Simmerman talked about his experience as an artist and his use of oil as his painting medium of choice. His subjects usually involve wildlife, woods or seashore meadow landscapes. George has been creating and selling his oil paintings since 1965.
Marleen Sanders - Painting on Porcelain - February 2008 Marleen
Sanders is a talented area artist, designer and member of HAC. Marleen
demonstrated china painting, and the techniques and materials used to creating porcelain
painting. Marlene has been creating porcelain mixed figurative art since
the early 1980s, designing, sculpting and casting the porcelain pieces she
skillfully paints. Marleen is self-taught and also creates beautifuly crafted jewelry.
Paige Roberts - January 2008 Paige is an instructor at HAC and at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. Paige's presentation told not only of her own experience as an artist, but the artistic influences on her work and life. Paige's skill as an instructor and as an artist were revealed in her engaging talk.

Daiva has been a caricature and portrait artist since her high
school years in Atlantic City.

COULTER - Pastel
Artist Linda is an Ocean County resident whose unsupressable love for drawing and art has infused her life and work from early on. Linda does commissioned portraits and the occasional still life, but her true love is painting landscapes. Fascinated by reflections in water, fall colors, the drama of beach scenes, rocks and buildings, Linda works with pastels developing textures and blending colors that the eye may not see. She seeks to portray a mood as well as the beauty of nature.

Jerry Knott - pastels and watercolors On March 26, watercolor artist Jerry Knott spoke to HAC members and guests and demonstrated his technique. Jerry is a Berlin resident retired from teaching High School Art who works as a Commercial/Fine artist from his home studio. The great majority of his current work is watercolor paintings of private homes commissioned by homeowners, realtors or builders. Jerry enjoys working in watercolor or pastels depicting the beauty he sees in rural New Jersey and along its shores and beaches. Seeing Jerry begin to bring a work to life with fluid yet practiced brushstrokes was a great experience.
Suzanne Reese Horvitz and Robert Roesch - October 2006 Suzanne and Robert have recently relocated from Philadelphia and will came to the Art Center to introduce themselves and to discuss their work. Robert is the Chair of the Sculpture Department at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. As a sculptor, he does large public art commissions, and is currently working on the entrance to a technical school in Norwich Connecticut. Suzanne also teaches at the PAFA. She is a painter and the former executive director and founder of the Nexus Gallery in Philadelphia. She currently works in glass and on artist books. Both artists work is can be viewed at the Webster Gallery in Philadelphia, and Suzanne and Robert are both in the current artist book exhibition at the Noyes Museum.
The Hammonton Arts Center welcomed photographer, Don Nyce as guest speaker for the HAC’s Monday August 28, 7 PM meeting. Don’s presentation and lecture focused on his historical collection of photographs. The collection depicts scenes dating back to the 1800’s. Many of his photographs focus on the pictorial history of Atlantic City.
