The Hammonton Arts Center was organized in 1996 as a non
profit, multi arts group that actively encourages participation, growth,
appreciation and promotion of visual and performing arts in Hammonton and
surrounding western Atlantic County.
The HAC meets it's goals by offering classes, holding
workshops and conducting lectures focusing on the arts. It also sponsors
exhibits and shows of the work of it's members and students from local schools

Robin A. Jess
botanical artwork

Robin
A. Jess has combined her love and fascination with the plant world and
drawing to create botanical illustrations of Pine Barrens flora. For
Robin, this finely detailed work provides both pleasure and challenge.
"For
my paintings to be successful, I must be emotionally moved by a plant or
excited by some aspect of it. This is essential to sustain the level of
energy and mental devotion necessary to carry through a full-scale
painting, which might take weeks to complete.
|

|
This
could be as simple as its beauty, or I could be challenged by its form
and color. But most often it is the whole "story" of the
plant."
Robin's
interest is not just how a plant looks, but how it grows, how it is
pollinated, and where it is found.
While we may pass by some familiar plants without giving them the
care of our attention, Robin's work reveals a beauty in even common
plants. Robin is devoted to the beautiful, unique flora of the Pine
Barrens.
